Progress in every age results only from the fact that
there are some men and women who refuse to believe that what they know to be
right cannot be done.

The world is moving so fast these days that the man
who says it can’t be done is generally interrupted by someone doing it.

The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The
secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming [tremendous]
tasks into smaller manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.
Mark
Twain
We describe the character of a person in reference to
moral judgments about the worthiness [value] of a person. Thus, to have a
strong, great or honorable character is to be a person of merit, worthy of
admiration and honor.
Michael
Josephson
Lincoln described character is a tree and reputation
as its shadow [obscurity]. The tree will always be what it is but the shadow we
see depends on where we stand and the angle of the light.
Michael
Josephson
Good character is a universal concept composed of core
ethical values that transcend cultural, religious and socioeconomic
differences: trustworthiness [honesty], respect, responsibility, justice and
fairness [objectivity], caring, and civic virtue and citizenship.

[Culture,
a vision]
This notion that culture is acquired through the process
of learning has several important implications for the conduct of international
business. First, such an understanding can lead to greater tolerance for
cultural differences, a prerequisite for effective intercultural communication
within a business setting [scenery]. Second, the learned nature of culture
serves as a reminder [sign] that since we have mastered our own culture through
the process of learning, it is possible (although more difficult) to learn to
function in other cultures as well. Thus, cross-cultural expertise for Western
businesspersons can be accomplished through effective training programs. And
finally, the learned nature of culture leads us to the inescapable conclusion
that foreign work forces, although perhaps lacking certain job-related skills
at the present time, are perfectly capable of learning those skills in the
future, provided they are exposed to culturally relevant training programs.

The goal of an effective leader is to recondition [service]
your team to be solution focused rather than problem focused.
Jim

Values hold the team together, provide stability for
the team to grow upon, measure the team’s performance, give direction and guidance
and attract like-minded [in agreement] people.

True leadership must be for the benefit of the
followers, not to enrich the leader.

Steps
to hands-off success in your life.
1. The next time you feel a conflict with someone, write down
two things you appreciate and admire about that person and sit down to resolve
the conflict by telling them these things first.
2. Take mental and physical notes about everyone who
works with you so that you become more and more aware of each person’s loves
and strengths. Start a notebook about this, and don’t forget to include
yourself in it.
3. Begin noticing your own thinking throughout the day as
you lead and communicate: Which thoughts bring you down? Which thoughts lift you
up? By practicing this step you will begin to understand that it is always your
thinking that creates your feelings, never other people.
