1. Thousands of lives were suddenly ended by evil,
despicable acts of terror. The pictures of airplanes flying into buildings,
fires burning, huge structures collapsing, have filled us with disbelief,
terrible sadness and a quiet, unyielding anger.
2. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our
biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts
shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.
3. Every nation in every region now has a decision to
make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.
4. We come to Iraq with respect for its citizens, for
their great civilization and for the religious faiths they practice. We have no
ambition in Iraq, except to remove a threat and restore control of that country
to its own people.
5. All Americans must recognize that the face of terror
is not the true faith - face of Islam. Islam is a faith that brings comfort to
a billion people around the world. It's a faith that has made brothers and
sisters of every race. It's a faith based upon love, not hate.
6. For diplomacy to be effective, words must be credible
- and no one can now doubt the word of America.
7. I know how hard it is to put food on your family.
8. I recently met with the finance minister of the
Palestinian Authority, was very impressed by his grasp [knowledge] of finances.

10. I come from the school of thought that says when
people have more money in their pocket [repository] during economic times, it
increases demand or investment. Small businesses begin to grow, and jobs are

here if you're worth your salt, if you want to put food on the table for your
families. And that's what's happening.
